Cheekwood Estate and Gardens

Formal Garden · Nashville, Tennessee

Fifty-five acres of formal garden around a 1932 Georgian revival mansion west of Nashville, built on a fortune made from the coffee blend that became Maxwell House and given to the city as a garden and art museum in 1960. The house holds an American art collection and the grounds run from a Japanese garden and a colour-planted seasonal garden down a wooded sculpture trail. Its two big seasons are a hundred thousand tulips in spring and a light installation at Christmas.

Generally open Tuesday to Sunday, roughly 9 or 10 AM - 5 PM, and CLOSED MONDAYS for much of the year. Extended evening hours during Holiday Lights from mid-November into early January. Timed tickets in the spring and Christmas seasons. Free parking.
