Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Specialty Museum · St. Michaels, Maryland

Eighteen acres on the Miles River at St. Michaels holding the largest collection of Chesapeake Bay watercraft in existence — skipjacks, log canoes, buyboats and crab dredgers — and a working shipyard where they restore and build wooden boats in front of you. The Hooper Strait Lighthouse stands at the point: an 1879 screwpile cottage taken off its foundation in 1966 and barged here, one of only three of its type left from a bay that once had dozens. The replica ship Maryland Dove was built here and launched in 2022.

213 North Talbot Street, St. Michaels, Maryland, 21663, United States

Generally open daily, roughly 10 AM to 4 or 5 PM, with EXTENDED SUMMER HOURS AND A REDUCED WEEK IN WINTER, when some buildings close — verify before travelling.
