Chicago Cultural Center
Historic Site · Chicago, Illinois
Built in 1897 as Chicago's first central public library and as a memorial hall for Civil War veterans, and given to the city as a free cultural venue in 1977. Preston Bradley Hall on the third floor is capped by a Tiffany stained-glass dome thirty-eight feet across, the largest in the world, and there is a second dome of Renaissance design over the veterans' rotunda. Everything in the building is free — the exhibitions, the concerts and the domes.
78 East Washington Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60602, United States
FREE. Generally daily with shorter weekend hours; closed public holidays. Preston Bradley Hall closes for private events without notice — check at the desk.
