Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden
Zoo · Cincinnati, Ohio
The second oldest zoo in the United States, opened in 1875 on a compact hillside site in Avondale and accredited as a botanical garden as well, so the planting is a serious collection rather than landscaping. It is also where the last passenger pigeon on Earth died in 1914, in an aviary that still stands on the grounds as a National Historic Landmark.
3400 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45220, United States
Open daily year-round; hours vary by season. Timed-entry tickets. The PNC Festival of Lights runs on evenings in November and December. Parking is charged separately from admission.
