A Long Golden Sand Beach With Clear Water Beside The Castle Peninsula Of Alanya, With Beach Clubs, Water Sports And A View Of The Castle Rock, Said To Be A Place Visited By Cleopatra And Mark Antony. The Most Popular Swimming Spot In Alanya, Busy In July And August · Alanya, Antalya

Cleopatra Beach is the best known swimming beach of Alanya, a long strip of fine golden sand beside the rocky castle peninsula, on the Mediterranean coast roughly 130 km east of Antalya. The water is clear and shades from pale green near the shore to deep blue, the sand slopes gently, and the castle rock rises behind the town as a backdrop. Local legend says that Cleopatra and Mark Antony swam here and that the sand was a gift from Antony, but this is only a story and nothing in the written record proves it (confirm). In summer the beach is busy with families, sunbed rows, kiosks, beach clubs, banana boats and jet skis, while spring and autumn are calm, with warm water and plenty of room. Parts of the shore are public and free, and other parts are reserved for clubs that charge for sunbeds and shade. A promenade, small restaurants and hotels line the back of the beach, and it is an easy base for a day of sun, swimming and views of the old town.

Lifeguard cover and flags are commonly present only in the main summer months. Restaurants and bars on the promenade open mostly in the afternoon and evening and stay open late in July and August. Wind and rough sea can close water sports and keep swimmers out on any day.
