Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
Botanical Garden · Boothbay, Maine
Three hundred acres on a tidal inlet at Boothbay, opened in 2007 after sixteen years of planning by a group of Maine residents who bought the land in 1991 with no institution behind them. It has nearly a mile of tidewater shoreline, a children's garden that is among the best in the country, and five giant troll sculptures hidden in the woods that have become the thing most visitors actually come for.
