Coit Tower

Tower · San Francisco, California

A 210-foot fluted column on top of Telegraph Hill, built in 1933 with money Lillie Hitchcock Coit left the city to beautify it. The ground floor is wrapped in twenty-seven Depression-era murals so politically pointed that the city nearly whitewashed them before it opened — and they are free to walk in and look at.

1 Telegraph Hill Boulevard, San Francisco, California, 94133, United States

Typically daily 10 AM - 5 PM, shorter in winter. Murals free; lift ticketed.
