Comerica Park

Stadium · Detroit, Michigan

Comerica Park is the home ballpark of the Detroit Tigers, in the Foxtown and Columbus Park area of downtown Detroit. It opened in 2000, replacing Tiger Stadium, and holds about 41,000 seats. The park is built around spectacle as much as baseball: tiger statues at the entrance, a fountain in center field that goes off after home runs, a Ferris wheel and a carousel on the concourse. The outfield is deep and the skyline view is good, so the park suits families, casual fans and anyone visiting Detroit for a night. The season runs April through September, with playoffs in October if the team qualifies. It is one of the easier MLB parks to get into, with parking, the People Mover and the QLine nearby. Allow three hours for a game, plus time to explore the concourse. Tickets are usually easy to find, but Opening Day, weekends and the playoffs sell out, so book those early and confirm prices. Dress warmly in April.

The ballpark is open to ticket holders on game days, with gates usually opening about an hour or more before first pitch, and earlier for special events. The regular season runs from late March or early April through September, with playoff games in October if the Tigers qualify. Most games are evenings on weekdays and afternoons on Sundays, but start times change, so confirm the day's time with the team. On non-game days the park is closed except for scheduled tours and events, which run on a limited schedule. Confirm tour times, bag rules and gate hours on the Tigers site before you go, because they change by season.
