Nearly thirteen thousand acres on the rim of the Cheat River gorge, thirteen miles east of Morgantown and about seventy-five minutes from Pittsburgh. The main overlook is a stone terrace built by the Civilian Conservation Corps on a sandstone cliff around 1,200 feet above the river, reached by a short paved walk from the car park, and it is the most visited state forest in West Virginia by a wide margin.
