Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary

Nature Preserve · Naples, Florida

The largest remaining stand of old-growth bald cypress in North America — trees five hundred years old and a hundred and thirty feet tall, standing in water, reached by a two and a quarter mile boardwalk that never touches the ground. Audubon bought it in the 1950s to stop the logging that had taken almost every other cypress swamp in the southeast, and what survives here is the last of its kind at scale.

375 Sanctuary Road West, Naples, Florida, 34120, United States

Open daily, generally 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for last entry with the boardwalk open later. Hours shift seasonally — check before travelling.
