Corning Museum of Glass
Specialty Museum · Corning, New York
Founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works as a gift to the nation on the company's centenary, and now holding the most comprehensive collection of glass in the world — roughly 50,000 objects spanning 3,500 years. It is three things at once: a museum, a working hot glass studio with live demonstrations all day, and a research library, and the 2015 Contemporary Art and Design Wing is one of the largest naturally lit spaces built for glass anywhere.
