Crystal Cave
Show Cave · Kutztown, Pennsylvania
A limestone cavern in Berks County found in 1871 by two farmers quarrying rock, opened to the public within months of its discovery, and therefore the oldest show cave in Pennsylvania and one of the earliest in the United States. Unlike Laurel Caverns in the west of the state it is properly decorated — flowstone, columns, stalactites and the crystalline calcite that gave it the name — and it has been showing them to visitors on much the same route for over a hundred and fifty years.
