Crystal River Archaeological State Park

Florida State Park · Crystal River, Florida

A pre-Columbian mound complex on the Crystal River that was occupied for around 1,600 years — one of the longest continuously used ceremonial sites in the southeastern United States. Six mounds survive, including a temple mound climbed by stairs and two stelae, carved stones that are extremely unusual this far north and suggest contact with Mesoamerican traditions.

Grounds open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. The museum keeps shorter hours and may not be staffed every day.
