Cypress Provincial Park is a mountain park on the North Shore above West Vancouver, reached by the Cypress Bowl Road from Highway 1. It is best known for a lookout with a wide view over Vancouver, and for the ski area at its base, which hosted freestyle and snowboard events at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The park also has old-growth forest, alpine lakes and a network of trails to places such as Hollyburn and Black Mountain. In summer it suits hikers and mountain bikers; in winter the resort runs skiing and snowshoeing, so check with the operator. The lookout is a short walk from the parking area, but fog and cloud often cover it, so look at the webcam first. The road is steep and winding, and winter driving needs chains or winter tyres. There is no camping. Allow two hours for the view, a full day for a hike. Bears live here, so keep food sealed and stay alert on every trail you take, even near the car park.

The park is a public provincial park open for day use, with the road and parking generally available year round when conditions allow. The ski and snowshoe operations are run by the resort, with their own seasonal hours, tickets and rental desks, so check the resort site for winter times. The Cypress Bowl Road can close or require chains because of snow, accidents or maintenance, and trails can stay snow-covered into early summer. The lookout is reached by a short walk from the main viewing area and is open when the road is. Hours for food service and rentals vary by season, and fog or storms can make the view useless, so check a webcam and the weather forecast before you drive up.
