Dallas Zoo

Zoo · Dallas, Texas

The oldest and, by acreage, generally the largest zoo in Texas, on 106 acres south of downtown Dallas, whose Giants of the Savanna exhibit put elephants and giraffes into a shared mixed-species habitat in a way few American zoos had attempted. The giraffe feeding platform puts you at eye level with an animal that is not remotely worried about you.

⚠ HOURS AND ADMISSION ARE NOT STATED HERE — I could not verify them. Check dallaszoo.com before travelling and look for advance online rates. ⚠ GIRAFFE FEEDING AND THE MONORAIL MAY CARRY SEPARATE CHARGES AND HAVE LIMITED CAPACITY — ask at the gate on arrival, because giraffe feeding sells out. ⚠ 106 acres with real gradient; take the monorail. A dedicated DART light rail station serves the zoo.
