Davis Mountains State Park

Subnational Park · Fort Davis, Texas

A green mountain park in the middle of the Trans-Pecos desert, in a range kept surprisingly lush by Limpia Creek, and the site of Indian Lodge — a white pueblo-style adobe hotel the Civilian Conservation Corps completed in 1939 and the only hotel Texas Parks and Wildlife operates. Skyline Drive climbs to overlooks across the Davis Mountains, and the park sits in the middle of the McDonald Observatory and Fort Davis corridor inside a vast dark sky reserve.
