Delta Blues Museum
Specialty Museum · Clarksdale, Mississippi
Mississippi's oldest music museum, founded in 1979 and housed since 1999 in the 1918 freight depot of the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad at Clarksdale — the town where Highway 61 meets Highway 49 and where a very large share of the men who made the blues either lived, worked or left from. Its central object is the cabin Muddy Waters lived in on Stovall Plantation, dismantled and rebuilt inside the museum, and the guitar Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top had made from one of its cypress beams.
