A hundred and fifty acres in the foothills below the San Gabriel Mountains, built around the largest camellia collection in North America — some 34,000 plants growing in the shade of a mature California oak forest. The camellias were planted in the 1940s and flower through the winter, which makes this a garden at its best in January.
