EAA Aviation Museum

Specialty Museum · Oshkosh, Wisconsin

The museum of the Experimental Aircraft Association, on the northwest corner of Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, holding more than 200 aircraft and roughly 20,000 artifacts in galleries that run from a Wright Flyer replica to a full-size SpaceShipOne mock-up. For one week every July the same ground becomes EAA AirVenture, the largest aviation gathering on earth, when Wittman handles more aircraft movements than any airport in the world and visitors arrive from close to a hundred countries. Behind the building is Pioneer Airport, a recreated 1930s grass airfield where you can still buy a ride in an open-cockpit biplane.

3000 Poberezny Road, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 54902, United States

Open daily 10:00 to 17:00. Closed New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Pioneer Airport is seasonal — weekends only from early May to mid-October and daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 10:30 to 16:30. Extended hours and a different footing during EAA AirVenture in late July.
