Eagle Creek Park

Regional Park · Indianapolis, Indiana

A municipal park on the northwest side of Indianapolis covering roughly 3,900 acres of woodland around a 1,400-acre reservoir, which makes it one of the largest city parks in the United States. It was assembled from the Lilly family estate and a flood-control reservoir built in the 1960s, and the scale means it holds genuine forest rather than mown grass — an ornithology centre, a nature centre, an Olympic-standard rowing course and about ten miles of trail.

7840 West 56th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46254, United States

Open daily, generally dawn to dusk, year-round. A per-vehicle gate fee applies daily, higher for out-of-county and out-of-state plates. The swimming beach is seasonal and lifeguarded. Nature centres keep daytime hours.
