Elvis Presley Birthplace

Historic House · Tupelo, Mississippi

A two-room shotgun house in east Tupelo that Vernon Presley built for about a hundred and eighty borrowed dollars, and in which Elvis was born on 8 January 1935 — his twin brother Jesse Garon delivered stillborn half an hour earlier. The family were evicted before Elvis was three because the loan was not repaid, and they left for Memphis when he was thirteen. The site has grown around the house into a fifteen-acre park with a museum, the Assembly of God church he first heard gospel music in, moved here whole, and a chapel.

306 Elvis Presley Drive, Tupelo, Mississippi, 38801, United States

Generally open Monday to Saturday, roughly 9 AM to 5 PM, with Sunday afternoon opening in summer and Sunday closure at other times of year — verify before travelling. Closed on major holidays. Tickets are modular: house, museum, church presentation and chapel sold separately or as a combination.
