Esther Short Park

Urban Park · Vancouver, Washington

The oldest public square in Washington, given to the city in 1853 by Esther Short and now five blocks of downtown Vancouver's civic centre. It holds a 1990s bell tower and glockenspiel, a Salmon Run bronze, a large playground and an amphitheatre used all summer, with the weekend farmers market running along its edge. It is a working city square rather than a garden, and it sits ten minutes from Fort Vancouver and directly across the Columbia from Portland.

415 West 6th Street, Vancouver, Washington, 98660, United States

Open daily, free, from early morning until late. The Vancouver Farmers Market runs on the park edge at weekends from spring to autumn and is the busiest the square gets. The summer concert series uses the amphitheatre on weekend evenings. The playground and splash pad are seasonal.
