Eugene
Heritage District · Eugene, Oregon
Oregon's second city, at the southern end of the Willamette Valley where the McKenzie meets the Willamette, and the home of the University of Oregon. Its international reputation rests almost entirely on distance running: Hayward Field has been the country's principal track since the 1960s, produced Steve Prefontaine and Bill Bowerman, gave rise to the shoe company Bowerman co-founded, and in 2022 hosted the World Athletics Championships - the first ever held on American soil. Away from the track it is a walkable river city with a covered market, riverside paths and the Cascades an hour east.
Coburg Road, Eugene, Oregon, 97401, United States
The city is open year round. The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path and Skinner Butte are open daily. The 5th Street Public Market and downtown keep normal retail hours. The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is closed on some weekdays - check before travelling. ⚠ HAYWARD FIELD IS A WORKING COMPETITION VENUE AND IS NOT RELIABLY OPEN TO CASUAL VISITORS; access depends on the events calendar. A home football Saturday or a major track meet fills the city's accommodation completely.
