Everland

South Korea'S Largest Theme Park, Opened By The Samsung Group In 1976 As Yongin Farmland And Renamed Everland In 1996; Home Of The T Express Wooden Coaster · Yongin, Gyeonggi

South Korea's largest theme park, spread over a wooded valley in Yongin about an hour south of Seoul. It opened in 1976 as a farm-and-nature park run by the Samsung group, took the name Everland in the 1990s, and now combines five themed zones - Global Fair at the gate, American Adventure, Magic Land, European Adventure and Zootopia - with a large zoo, flower gardens and the Caribbean Bay water park next door. Its star ride is T Express, a towering wooden roller coaster with one of the steepest drops of any wooden coaster in the world. Zootopia holds Safari World, where buses drive among lions, tigers and bears, Lost Valley, where amphibious vehicles splash into a lake among giraffes and elephants, and Panda World, home to the giant panda family that made the park famous across Korea. Four seasons of flower festivals fill the terraced gardens, from tulips in spring and roses in early summer to Halloween and winter lights. Weekday visits and a ride reservation app make the difference between a great day and a day of queues.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the park opens every day at about 10 am and closes at roughly 9 or 10 pm, later during summer and festival weeks and earlier in winter, with ticket sales ending an hour or so before closing. There is no regular closing day. Zootopia's Safari World, Lost Valley and Panda World close earlier than the rides, often in the late afternoon. Caribbean Bay's outdoor area opens only in the warm months. Traps: animal rides closed before dusk; T Express stopped by rain or wind; reservation slots gone within minutes; the last bus to Seoul leaving before the night parade; weekend queues of two hours.
