Faneuil Hall Marketplace

National Historic Landmark; Boston National Historical Park · Boston, Massachusetts

Three long granite market buildings from 1826 wrapped around Faneuil Hall itself, rescued from demolition and reopened in 1976 as one of the first and most copied festival marketplaces in the world — the model that Baltimore, New York and a hundred other cities then imitated. Quincy Market's central colonnade is a food hall two hundred metres long, the cobbled promenades outside carry street performers all day, and the whole thing is among the most heavily visited attractions in the United States.

4 South Market Street, Boston, Massachusetts, 02109, United States

The marketplace and promenades are FREE and open daily, with shops generally 10 AM - 9 PM and restaurants and bars later. Faneuil Hall's Great Hall and the free National Park Service visitor centre keep daytime hours only and close well before the shops. Street performers work mainly April - October. Take the T to Government Center or State.
