Fenimore Art Museum
Art Museum · Cooperstown, New York
A 1930s neo-Georgian house on Otsego Lake at Cooperstown holding one of the finest collections of AMERICAN FOLK ART anywhere, the Hudson River School, and ⚠ THE THAW COLLECTION OF AMERICAN INDIAN ART — some 900 objects from across North America, and among the most important such collections in private hands before it was given here. The site was James Fenimore Cooper's farm.
5798 State Highway 80, Cooperstown, New York, 13326, United States
⚠ CHECK THE SEASON BEFORE TRAVELLING — Fenimore has historically run a REDUCED WINTER SCHEDULE and closed for part of the winter, and Cooperstown is four hours from New York City with no rail service. ⚠ ASK FOR THE COMBINED TICKET WITH THE FARMERS MUSEUM across the road — cheaper than two admissions, and the two share a parent organisation and a car park. Free parking on site. ⚠ AVOID PEAK JULY AND AUGUST unless baseball is also the point: Cooperstown fills with Hall of Fame visitors and youth tournaments and accommodation is scarce and dear. ⚠ HOURS AND PRICES NOT VERIFIED FOR THIS FILE.
