Ferry Building Marketplace
Food Market · San Francisco, California
A 1898 ferry terminal with a 245-foot clock tower that survived both the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes, was hidden behind a freeway for forty years, and reopened in 2003 as a food hall. Its Saturday farmers market is the most important in Northern California — the one Bay Area chefs actually shop at — and draws around 25,000 people to the Embarcadero.
