Field of Dreams Movie Site
Historic Site · Dyersville, Iowa
The baseball diamond cut into a cornfield outside Dyersville for the 1989 film, kept exactly as it was built and open to anyone who wants to walk on it. There is no fee to stand on the field, and the thing people do here is play catch — with a parent, a child, or a stranger. Major League Baseball has since staged three regular-season games beside it, and roughly 115,000 people a year drive out to a working farm in eastern Iowa to look at a lawn.

THE FIELD AND GROUNDS ARE FREE, with free parking and no admission, and the field is reachable outside staffed hours. The site is staffed roughly April to November, generally 9:00 to 18:00, with extended evening hours in July and August; outside that the grounds stay open while the gift shop and farmhouse are shut. ⚠ THE FARMHOUSE TOUR IS THE ONLY PAID ELEMENT, roughly $12-$20 for an adult with reductions for seniors, military and children. ⚠ THE GHOST PLAYERS PERFORM ON SCHEDULED DAYS, NOT DAILY — check the calendar before building a trip around them. ⚠ THE CORN IS ONLY HIGH FROM ROUGHLY MIDSUMMER; in spring the site is a ball field in a bare field and visitors expecting the film are disappointed. In years when an MLB game is played here, access changes completely for that week in August.
