Fifer Orchards
A Family Run Fruit And Vegetable Farm South West Of Dover, Farming Since 1919, With A Farm Store, Kitchen And Seasonal Pick Your Own · Camden Wyoming, Delaware
Fifer Orchards is a family farm in the flat country just south-west of Dover, near Camden and Wyoming, and one of the best-known farms in Delaware. The Fifer family has been farming here since 1919, and the business has grown to about 2,500 acres of apple, peach, pear, nectarine and plum orchards along with vegetable fields. For visitors the center of it is the farm store and kitchen on Allabands Mill Road, which sells the farm's own fruit and vegetables in season alongside baked goods, pies, apple cider donuts, hand-dipped ice cream, honey, apple butter and local products. Through the growing season the farm opens fields for pick-your-own: strawberries in late spring, blueberries and peaches in summer, and apples and pumpkins in the autumn. Festivals mark the year, including strawberry, peach and fall events, and autumn weekends bring hayrides and children's activities and the heaviest crowds. It is a working farm, not a theme park, and a good stop on the way to or from the beaches, where the family also runs a farm store (confirm).

The farm store and kitchen near Camden Wyoming have been open most of the year, with longer hours from spring through autumn and shorter hours, fewer days or a winter break in the coldest months; confirm before driving out between January and March. Pick-your-own is entirely SEASONAL and depends on the crop: strawberries in late spring, blueberries and peaches through the summer, apples and pumpkins in the autumn. Picking fields open only when fruit is ready and close without much notice when a patch is picked out, after heavy rain, or in extreme heat, so check the farm's picking report on the day you plan to go. Festivals such as a Strawberry Festival, Peach Ice Cream Day, Fall Fest and Cider Fest have fixed dates each year that vary; confirm. Autumn weekend activities such as hayrides and children's play areas run only on those weekends. The farm store near the beaches keeps its own seasonal hours; confirm.
