Florida State Capitol

Historic Site · Tallahassee, Florida

Two capitols on one site, and the contrast is the whole visit — a low 1845 building restored to its 1902 appearance with candy-striped awnings and a stained glass dome, sitting directly in front of the twenty-two-storey slab that replaced it in 1977. The old one is a free museum, the new one has a free observation deck on the top floor, and the view from it runs to the Gulf.

400 South Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399, United States

Both buildings free. Observation deck and Historic Capitol museum keep weekday hours and are generally closed at weekends.
