Forest Park
City Park · Portland, Oregon
A municipal park of more than 5,100 acres in the Tualatin Mountains, running over eight miles along hillsides above the Willamette and holding more than eighty miles of trails - one of the largest urban forest reserves in the country. It is mostly second-growth forest with a few patches of old growth, and the Wildwood Trail through it is part of Portland's 40-Mile Loop. It is a genuine forest inside a city, which is the whole point of it.
Northwest 29th Avenue at Upshur Street, Portland, Oregon, 97210, United States
Open daily from roughly 5am to 10pm and FREE. There are no gates on most of it. ⚠ THERE ARE NO SERVICES INSIDE THE PARK - no water, no restrooms on most trailheads, no food and no shop across more than five thousand acres. Restrooms exist at a few main trailheads only. It gets dark under the canopy well before it gets dark outside.
