Fort Pulaski National Monument
National Monument · Savannah, Georgia
A 5,600-acre monument on Cockspur Island near Savannah, preserving a massive brick coastal fort built between 1829-1847. Once considered impregnable, Fort Pulaski fell to Union rifled cannon in just 30 hours during the Civil War — proving that brick forts were obsolete. The monument also protects salt marshes, beaches, and the historic Cockspur Island Lighthouse.
US Highway 80 East, Savannah, Georgia, 31410, United States
