Fort Ransom State Park

Subnational Park · Fort Ransom, North Dakota

Nine hundred acres in the Sheyenne River valley in south-eastern North Dakota, on the Sheyenne River Valley National Scenic Byway, preserving two homesteader farms - the Bjone House and the Andrew Sunne farm - along with wooded valley slopes and prairie above. It is the greenest and most rolling corner of the state, a wooded river valley cut into flat farmland, and the park works it as living history: draught horses, hayrides and a working farm rather than a display of one.

5981 Walt Hjelle Parkway, Fort Ransom, North Dakota, 58033, United States

Open year round with a per-vehicle North Dakota state park entry fee. The campground and cabins are seasonal and reservable through the state park system; trails are open all year and are used for skiing and snowshoeing in winter. ⚠ THE LIVING-HISTORY PROGRAMMING - the draught horses, the hayrides and the farm demonstrations - IS SEASONAL AND SCHEDULED rather than continuous, and the park can be open while none of it is running. Check the calendar before planning a visit around it. Sodbuster Days is the park's fullest weekend of the year.
