Fort Vancouver National Historic Site

Historic Site · Vancouver, Washington

The headquarters of the Hudson Bay Company for the entire Columbia District from 1825 to 1849, which for two decades made this the centre of European power and trade across a territory running from Alaska to California. The stockade and several buildings have been reconstructed on their excavated footprints, and the site also holds Vancouver Barracks and Pearson Field, one of the oldest continuously operating airfields in the United States. It sits directly across the Columbia from Portland.
