Fort Walla Walla Museum

History Museum · Walla Walla, Washington

A seventeen-acre open-air and indoor museum on the edge of Walla Walla, built around a village of relocated nineteenth-century buildings and five large halls of agricultural machinery. The collection is dominated by the wheat farming that made this valley, including a thirty-three-mule combine harvester team reconstructed at full size - which is the object people remember. It sits beside the site of the 1850s army fort the town grew around.

SEASONAL - generally open daily from around April to October and CLOSED FOR THE WINTER, roughly 10 AM to 5 PM. This is the most important practical fact here and the commonest wasted journey. Check before travelling. Living history demonstrations run on summer weekends rather than daily.
