Franklin Cider Mill
Working Farm · Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
A mill has stood on this stretch of the Rouge River since 1837, and it still presses cider with water power from the same stream. It opens for about three months each autumn and does one thing — cider and cinnamon donuts, eaten standing up by the millrace — which for a very large number of Detroiters is what October is.
