Fraunces Tavern Museum

History Museum · New York, New York

The tavern on Pearl Street where GEORGE WASHINGTON SAID FAREWELL TO HIS OFFICERS on 4 December 1783, nine days after the British evacuated New York — a scene in the LONG ROOM upstairs that ended the Revolutionary War for the men who fought it. ⚠ THE BUILDING IS A 1907 RECONSTRUCTION of a 1719 house, which the museum states plainly, and the Long Room is a reconstruction of a room nobody photographed.

54 Pearl Street, New York, New York, 10004, United States
