Fredericksburg
Old Town · Fredericksburg, Texas
A German town founded in the Texas Hill Country in 1846 and still visibly German — a wide Main Street of limestone storefronts and bakeries, a Marktplatz with a reconstructed Vereins Kirche at its centre, and the small "Sunday Houses" that outlying farm families kept for weekend trips into town. It is now the anchor of Texas wine country and the base almost every Hill Country visitor sleeps in.
