Ganh Da Dia and Mui Dien
A Stack Of Hexagonal Basalt Columns By The Sea Like A Giant Honeycomb, A National Scenic Site Since 1998, And Nearby Mui Dien, The First Place In Mainland Vietnam To See The Sunrise, With A Small Lighthouse. Made Known By The 2015 Film Yellow Flowers On The Green Grass. Wet Rocks And Big Waves Make It Slippery · Tuy An, Phu Yen
Ganh Da Dia, the Stone Plate Reef, is a stack of hexagonal basalt columns on the Phu Yen coast, packed together like a giant honeycomb and cooled from lava long ago. Waves break against the lower plates, and a short path and steps lead down from a small car park to the rocks. It became a national scenic site in 1998 and later became widely known after the film Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass, shot in Phu Yen. Mui Dien, or Cape Dien, lies a short way south and is the easternmost point of mainland Vietnam, where people come for the first sunrise of the country, with a small lighthouse on the headland. Tuy Hoa is the usual base. It suits road trippers on the coast between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon and photographers who like rock and surf. It is worth the detour on a dry, calm day. It is not worth the trip in heavy rain or high waves, and it is a short, small site that needs only a couple of hours, not a full-day park.

The coast has no real closing time, but the Ganh Da Dia site keeps daytime hours, commonly from early morning to late afternoon, with a ticket booth at the gate. Cape Dien and its viewpoint path are FREE to reach and busiest at dawn, around 4 to 6 am, when people queue for the sunrise. The lighthouse may be CLOSED to visitors or open only in short daytime windows, and the rock steps may be shut in high waves, storms or after heavy rain. Small drink stalls near the car park open from morning to evening. Confirm the gate hours and fee locally on the day.
