Glendo State Park

State Park · Glendo, Wyoming

A large reservoir on the North Platte River beside Interstate 25, with sandy beaches, marinas, hundreds of campsites and a mountain-bike trail system. It is among the busiest state parks in Wyoming on summer weekends, when boaters arrive from Wyoming and Colorado, and it is known for walleye fishing and wide beaches that are unusual for the state. The reservoir was created by Glendo Dam, completed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1958. The park runs for miles along the water, with campgrounds from sandy beach sites to shaded loops, a marina, and a long trail system for mountain bikes and hikers. It sits just off Interstate 25 about 100 miles north of Cheyenne, and the prehistoric Spanish Diggings quartzite quarries lie in the hills to the east.
