Grand River Valley Wine Region
Wine Region · Geneva, Ohio
A cluster of two dozen wineries in the hills behind the Lake Erie shore east of Cleveland, and the only part of Ohio where European vinifera grapes reliably survive the winter. The lake is the reason — it holds the vines dormant through the spring frosts and extends the autumn by weeks, which is why Riesling and Cabernet Franc grow here and not thirty miles inland.

Tasting rooms keep their own hours, generally daily in season and reduced in winter; several close entirely from January to March. Most need no appointment. Winery restaurants take bookings.
