Grand Targhee Resort

Ski Resort — On Caribou Targhee National Forest Land · Alta, Wyoming

A ski resort on the west side of the Teton Range, in Wyoming but reached only by road through Driggs, Idaho, opened in 1969. It is known among skiers for deep, dry snow, short lift lines and a relaxed feel compared with Jackson Hole on the other side of the mountains, and for views of the Grand Teton from the back. Snowcat skiing runs on a separate peak. In summer it offers chairlift rides, lift-served mountain biking, hiking and a bluegrass festival in August. Frequent storms bring the snow — and the fog that locals joke about. It sits on Caribou-Targhee National Forest land and is one of the Mountain Collective resorts.
