Ohio's first craft brewery, opened in 1988 in a row of nineteenth-century buildings in Ohio City opposite the West Side Market, and one of the earliest craft breweries of any consequence in the Midwest. Its taproom bar came out of the 1860s, its beers are named after Great Lakes history, and its Christmas Ale is a genuine seasonal institution in Cleveland.
