A 55-room Tudor Revival mansion above Beverly Hills, built in 1928 by oil magnate Edward Doheny for his son Ned, who was shot dead in it four months after moving in. The city bought it in 1965 and the eighteen acres of terraced gardens are now a free public park — while the house itself, one of the most filmed interiors in America, opens only for events.
