Gruene Historic District

Heritage District · New Braunfels, Texas

Twenty-five acres of 1870s German settlement on the Guadalupe River, now part of New Braunfels but preserved as a National Historic District — a general store, a restaurant in an old cotton gin, and Gruene Hall, which bills itself as the oldest continually operating dance hall in Texas and has live music every single day. It is pronounced "green".

1281 Gruene Road, New Braunfels, Texas, 78130, United States

The district is free to walk and open at all times; shops and restaurants keep their own hours. ⚠ GRUENE HALL HAS LIVE MUSIC EVERY SINGLE DAY — many daytime and weekday sets are free, while evening and headline shows are ticketed; check gruenehall.com. ⚠ Saturday nights fill wall to wall in good weather; arrive at or before the stated door time. ⚠ The hall has no real air conditioning — the original side flaps open instead.
