Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum

Historic Site · Corbin, Kentucky

The roadside cafe and motel at Corbin where Harland Sanders worked out the fried chicken recipe and the pressure-cooking method that became Kentucky Fried Chicken. It is still a working KFC restaurant, with the 1940s kitchen and dining room restored alongside it and a model motel room showing how the place looked when travellers on US 25 stopped here. Sanders only started franchising in his sixties, after the new interstate bypassed Corbin and took his trade with it.

688 US Highway 25W, Corbin, Kentucky, 40701, United States

Open during restaurant hours, generally daily and longer than a museum would be; the museum section is free and needs no ticket. Closed on the major holidays a fast food restaurant would close on.
