Harley-Davidson Museum
Specialty Museum · Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Twenty acres on the bank of the Menomonee River holding the archive of a company founded in a Milwaukee backyard shed in 1903, which has kept one motorcycle from every production year since 1915. More than 450 machines are on site and about 85 percent of what is displayed comes from the corporate archive rather than on loan. The campus opened in 2008 and only the two gallery floors are ticketed — the grounds, the restaurant, both shops and the whole summer events programme are free.
