Harrison Hot Springs

A Lakeside Resort Village Built Around Hot Springs Found In 1858 By Gold Seekers, With Public Hot Pools, A Large Spa Resort, A Sandy Lake Beach And Mountain Scenery, And A Sasquatch Legend Celebrated Each Year. A Weekend Trip For Vancouver, And A Base For The Fraser Valley And The Harrison River Eagle Viewing In November · Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia

Harrison Hot Springs is a lakeside resort village at the southern tip of Harrison Lake, about 130 km east of Vancouver in the Fraser Valley. Gold seekers found the springs in 1858 while using the Harrison route to the Fraser goldfields, and a spa hotel followed in the 1880s. Today the village is a short strip of cafes, shops and inns along a sandy lakefront promenade, with the Harrison Lake Lagoon swimming area, a large resort spa and public hot mineral pools near the shore. Mountains drop straight into the water on three sides, and the lake stays cold even in August, so the hot pools are the main reason to come. The village leans happily into the Sasquatch legend, with statues, souvenirs and a Sasquatch festival held in past summers (confirm the dates). Weekends from July to August are busy and parking is tight. In November bald eagles gather on the Harrison River for the late salmon (confirm the timing). Vancouver visitors come for a day soak or a quiet night away.

The village and lakefront are open all year, and walking the beach promenade costs nothing. The public hot pools commonly open daily from morning to late evening, with later hours in summer, but pool hours, cleaning closures and last entry change by season, so confirm before you drive out. The resort spa works on appointments. Lagoon swimming is a summer pastime, roughly June to early September, and the lifeguarded season is shorter. Some cafes, rental shops and boat tours close or cut hours from October to April. The Sasquatch festival and the eagle viewing are seasonal events with their own dates, so confirm those separately.
