Haymarket
Food Market · Boston, Massachusetts
An open-air produce market on Blackstone Street in Boston that runs on Fridays and Saturdays only, and has run on roughly this ground since the 1830s — which makes it one of the oldest continuously operating open-air markets in the United States. Vendors sell surplus fruit and vegetables at prices that undercut every supermarket in the city, shouting across a lane of stalls between the North End and Faneuil Hall. It is loud, cash-only, and the one rule that matters is that you do not touch the produce.
