Henry B. Plant Museum

History Museum · Tampa, Florida

One wing of the Tampa Bay Hotel, a quarter-mile-long Moorish Revival extravagance that Henry Plant opened in 1891 at the end of his railway, with thirteen silver minarets on the roof and more floor space than anything else in Florida. Theodore Roosevelt and the Rough Riders staged here before sailing for Cuba in 1898. The rest of the building is now the University of Tampa.
